At STEAM Studios, we teach three classes: Literature and the Arts, STEAM, and World Cultures - all through the practice of arts integration.
We believe that art is the first step to seeing and thinking creatively, that STEM is the basis for technical problem-solving, and that people are the reason we do it in the first place. When we learn about the world and its people, we are one step closer to making the world a better place.
Hello! I am Nicole Burbank, the founder of STEAM Studios. I am also a wife, mother of three, and educator. I have my bachelor's in Elementary Education and Master's in Educational leadership from Northern Arizona University. I taught middle school for years and then spent two years as a high school administrator. I was also very involved in curriculum writing for two districts for ELA, math, and arts integration. I loved my time in education and never thought I would leave the public school setting.
While in the classroom, I taught primarily middle school math for two arts academies. I brought my love of the arts into a learning setting and saw firsthand how it changed learning. I saw the use of creativity and problem-solving transform students. I witnessed the arts give purpose and meaning to young lives.
I came to the homeschool world a year ago when my daughter started Kindergarten. It was a tough choice because my career was in public education, but ultimately, it was the right decision for our family. The homeschooling community has been amazing! There are so many families who welcome you in and share the journey of schooling at home. While I used arts integration and STEM education in our family's learning, I knew others would benefit from this teaching style too - so, STEAM Studios was born. We are here to help bring you and your family more community, peer academics for your homeschoolers, and STEAM learning. Welcome!
